Don't Wait to Fully Live Your Life
The Secrets Behind Making Successful Bold Life Changes

Have you ever stood at the edge of a major life change, paralyzed by the question: What if I fail?
In our latest episode of And Then I Did This, I sat down with Sipra Roy Halteman, founder of Shift Society. She asked herself a different question:
“What if I did the thing I've been dreaming about all this time?”
That one shift in perspective changed everything.
From Silicon Valley to Purpose-Driven Work
Sipra's journey took her from the Midwest to Silicon Valley, the tech epicenter, where she worked at Twitter during its most dynamic years. From the outside, she had it all—the career, the location, the success markers we're all told to chase.
But inside? Burnout was building. And then life intervened in the most profound way.
When Crisis Becomes Catalyst
After surviving a life-threatening health event, Sipra found herself at a crossroads. The trauma forced her to confront a hard truth: she wasn't truly living—she was just going through the motions.
A moment of crisis became her catalyst for transformation.
She discovered breathwork and other healing modalities. She began processing years of accumulated stress and trauma. And slowly, she started asking bigger questions about what she really wanted from life.
The Messy Middle Nobody Talks About
Here's what we don't talk about enough in professional spaces: transformation is messy.
The LinkedIn feeds show us the highlight reel—the new job announcement, the company launch, the victory lap. But they rarely show us the months (or years) of uncertainty, fear, and doubt that come before.
Sipra and I dove deep into this "messy middle"—the space between who you were and who you're becoming. The place where:
You don't have all the answers
The path isn't clear
Fear and excitement coexist
You question everything
This is exactly where the magic happens.
No One Transforms Alone
One of the most powerful insights from our conversation? You cannot transform in isolation.
This is why Sipra founded Shift Society—because she learned firsthand that we need community, support, and connection to navigate life's biggest transitions. We need people who've walked similar paths. We need witnesses to our struggle. We need cheerleaders for our courage.
Whether you're considering a career pivot, recovering from personal trauma, or simply feeling drawn to something different, finding your tribe isn't optional—it's essential.
Three Questions to Ask Yourself Today
As I reflected on our conversation, these questions stayed with me:
What dream have I been postponing? What's the "someday" goal I keep pushing to the future?
What am I afraid will happen if I try? Name the fear. When we bring it into the light, it often loses its power.
Who is in my corner? Transformation requires support. Who are the people who will champion your growth?
This Is Not a Dress Rehearsal
If there's one message I want you to take from this episode, it's this: Your life is happening right now.
Not when you're more prepared. Not when you have more savings. Not when the kids are older or the economy is better or the stars align.
Now.
Whether you're in your 30s, 40s, 50s, or beyond—it's not too late. Sipra's story is living proof that you can start over, shift direction, and build something meaningful at any stage of life.
